Members of the Yobe state House of Assembly have dismissed claims that they were planing to impeach Governor Ibrahim Gaidam.
The Nation reported that the house which resumes its sitting after one month of recess, said it was necessary to clear the air on the allegation that former governor of Borno State, Sen. Ali Modu Sherrif, is mounting pressure on Gaidam to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party or face impeachment.
During the sitting, Alhaji Adamu Dala-Dogo, speaker of the house asked every member to speak for himself. All members reportedly denied having any interest in impeaching the governor.
At the end of the sitting, the house unanimously endorsed Gaidam as the sole gubernatorial candidature for the 2015 general election on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
