A rights group, the Muslims Rights Concern, MURIC, has rejected the composition of the Yoruba Committee on National Conference, describing it as a coup against Muslims.
In a statement on Monday by its Director, Ishaq Akintola, the group said it was curious that there was no single Muslim in the committee raised to select delegates and articulate the position of the Southwest geopolitical zone ahead of the conference scheduled to begin in March.
“The Yoruba Committee on National Conference has started on a wrong footing. They should realize that the world is changing and they should allow that change to reflect. Gone are those days when decisions are taken without consulting Muslims. Muslim docility has become history. Nigerian Muslims have donned the garb of proactiveness.”
