The National Population Commission (NPC) of Nigeria stressed the significance of accurate data and insights generated by the 2023 Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) during the training of interviewers in Akwanga, Nasarawa. NPC Chairman Kwarra acknowledged the potential of this information to shape long-term health and social policies, emphasizing its enduring impact.

This statement followed a House of Representatives inquiry into the N200 billion allocated for preparations of the postponed 2023 census. Kwarra defended the procurement processes and the durability of the items acquired for the census, asserting that the resources invested would be utilized for the next census. Refresher training for the trial census is being considered due to the elapsed time.

NPC has secured various resources such as personal digital assistants, training manuals, ICT equipment, and data centers, which are distributed across Central Bank of Nigeria offices nationwide, ensuring preparedness for the upcoming census. Kwarra underlined the necessity of the census for informed planning and addressing security issues in the nation.

Moreover, Kwarra emphasized the vital role of the NDHS, which has consistently provided policymakers and researchers with reliable data to inform decision-making, ensuring that it remains a beacon of comprehensive and actionable insights for stakeholders.
