Responding to the surge in food looting incidents, the Lagos State Police Command and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in the Southwest region have implemented heightened security measures at critical locations.

The move aims to proactively prevent potential attacks by individuals exploiting the prevailing hardship and hunger. Recent incidents, including the looting of a warehouse in the Federal Capital Territory, have prompted authorities to fortify shopping malls and government warehouses storing essential supplies.

Lagos State Police Commissioner, Mrs. Adegoke Fayoade, revealed the deployment of plain-clothes officers and placed area commanders on red alert to maintain law and order. The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) is actively monitoring government warehouses and shopping centers.

NEMA's South West Territorial Coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye, emphasized the proactive security measures to protect federal assets. Authorities remain vigilant, underscoring their commitment to ensuring the safety of both citizens and government property in the face of potential threats.
