President Bola Tinubu returned to Nigeria on Saturday after a working leave that began on October 2, 2024. Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff, welcomed him at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja, along with other top government officials. Gbajabiamila assured Nigerians that the president is well-rested and ready to continue his efforts toward improving the country.
During his time abroad, Tinubu balanced work with rest, and his Chief of Staff emphasized that the president is now rejuvenated and prepared to press forward with critical policies and initiatives. Gbajabiamila expressed optimism about the future, stating that Tinubu is eager to continue the “good work” he began, promising that Nigerians will soon see the positive results of his efforts.
Amid Tinubu’s absence, concerns were raised over leadership in Nigeria, especially as Vice President Kashim Shettima left the country for a two-day working visit to Sweden. However, the presidency dismissed fears of a leadership vacuum, affirming that the country’s governance remained intact.
Gbajabiamila encouraged Nigerians to remain optimistic, highlighting Tinubu's commitment to steering the country in the right direction. He likened Tinubu to the plane captain, assuring that the government is working towards reaching a "cruising level" with tangible benefits to follow for all citizens.
