The Digest:

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has clarified that underage candidates receiving "No Result Yet" notifications have had their scores deliberately withheld in line with regulations. Only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, are eligible to sit for the UTME. Under the exceptional candidate policy, underage candidates must score a minimum of 320 in UTME and at least 80 per cent in subsequent screenings to be considered for admission.

Key Points:
  • Underage candidates must meet strict benchmarks before results are released.
  • The policy follows prior agreements with parents of underage candidates.
  • Only candidates who meet the 320 benchmark will be shortlisted for further assessment.
  • JAMB said the policy aims to preserve the integrity of the admission system.
  • Parents and stakeholders are urged to remain patient.
Underage candidates must demonstrate extraordinary academic ability for exceptional consideration.
