Three persons escaped death when a 40-foot containerised truck fell onto a Toyota Camry at Daleko Bridge inward Isolo, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA). In a statement by public affairs head Olawale Afolabi, the agency said the container detached from a tow truck while ascending the bridge due to a mechanical fault — a broken turntable. The three car occupants escaped unhurt. Recovery operations involved LASEMA's heavy-duty crane alongside a private crane. Traffic was temporarily diverted during the response.

Key Points
  • Three lives were spared due to the container falling sideways rather than crushing the car directly.
  • Poor vehicle maintenance — a broken turntable — directly caused the near-fatal incident.
  • Motorists on Daleko Bridge faced travel delays during hours of recovery operations.
  • Truck owners face renewed calls from LASEMA to ensure proper vehicle maintenance.
  • The incident adds to growing concerns over falling containers on Lagos roads and bridges.

Watch whether LASEMA or other agencies sanction the truck operator and if stricter maintenance enforcement follows for containerised trucks.
