Thugs attacked a section of the popular Farm Center GSM market in Kano State on Monday, carting away phones and valuables from traders and customers. According to traders who spoke to Daily Trust, the thugs were allegedly attending a political rally at a venue close to the market when they struck around 12pm. The attack forced the closure of Yayo Plaza, one of the market's plazas. Shops on the ground floor were burgled. Police later intervened with teargas to disperse the attackers.

Key Points
  • Traders and customers lose expensive phones and valuables in a midday raid.
  • The market, Kano's largest for mobile phones and computer accessories, faces business disruption.
  • Political rallies near commercial areas create security risks for traders.
  • Police teargas intervention suggests the situation escalated beyond routine thuggery.
  • Young traders who dominate the market now fear for their safety during business hours.

Watch whether police arrest the suspects and if market security measures are reviewed to prevent future attacks during political events.
