Sports 2014 Commonwealth Games: Okorodudu expects Nigerian boxers to win medals

Former Nigerian boxer,Jerry Okorodudu is confident that Nigerian boxers will give a good representation of the country at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Okorodudu was particularly impressed with the progress the boxers have made, adding that he is sure they would win medals for Nigeria at the Games.

"The technical crew had been up and doing; we are looking forward to opening the camp in February in Abuja with no fewer than 40 boxers, including 10 females," he told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)

“What the boxers have going for them has been that most of them are products of a recent championship.

“I have seen in them that doggedness and the knack to go the extra mile.

“It is my belief that by the time the camp will be over, only world beaters will make the team,” the coach said.

He added that with many of the boxers having mastered the new AIBA regulations and the point-scoring method, they would have a good outing at the Games.
