Thirty-eight year-old, Matthew Ankoor has been arrested by the police for bludgeoning his eight months pregnant wife, Hannah, to death in Lugbe, Abuja on June 6th.
The couple have been having marital issues which culminated into the demise of the wife.
The Sun reports that Hannah moved in with Mathew nine years ago and the couple have been blessed with 3 daughters, but Mathew longed to have a son. As a result, he has been pressurizing his wife to give him a male child.
In search of a boy, Hannah began moving from church to church, an action which angered Mathew who demanded that she remain a devout member of the Catholic church which they've always attended. She however refused and insisted on going to go to different churches so she can give birth to a male child.
On June 6th Mathew instructed Hannah to wash his dirty clothes before he returned from his outing. The pregnant mother of three left for her ante-natal appointment and when she returned was too tired to do the laundry that she postponed it to the next day.
When Mathew arrived, he was infuriated that Hannah failed to wash his clothes. He refused to listen to her excuses and pounced on her, beating her until she passed out.
She was rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead. Hannah was pregnant with a boy.
Speaking for himself, Matthew said he regretted killing his wife but advised young men to carefully study the kind of women they wanted to marry before saying "I do."
He also advised young men to court their would be wives for a period of 10 years so that they would be able to know her well before marrying her because youthful exuberance forced him into early marriage.
