Willie Obiano, Anambra state Governor Elect will stand trial for alleged double registration. A Federal High court in Abuja has picked February 26 for the commencement of hearing in the suit.
The plaintiffs, Kenneth Moneke and Ugochukwu Ikegwuonu are by the suit, seeking Obiano’s disqualification on the grounds that he possesses two voter cards, having allegedly engaged in double registration. The plaintiffs claim that the voter card Obiano tendered before he was cleared to participate in the party’s screening exercise was not the same as the one he submitted to INEC.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is also joined to the suit.
Obiano is going to be represented by Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN) while the plaintiffs will be represented by Joe Kyari Gadzama (SAN).
