Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti has included Norwegian teenager , Martin Odegaard in his squad for the knockout stages of this season's Champions League.
The 16-year old Odegaard joined Real last month from Stromsgodset, and was drafted into their Castilla team, although he still trains with the first team.
However, it was surprising that he made Ancelotti's 25-man squad for the remainder of the season.
After the close of the transfer window, UEFA gave the remaining 16 clubs a deadline to submit their intended squad for the Champions League Round of 16 stage.
Odegaard, already a full Norway international, made his first appearance in a Blancos shirt earlier on Wednesday and impressed, playing a major part in two goals as Castilla drew 3-3 in a friendly with Beijing Guoan.
Should he play against Schalke in the last 16 he will become the youngest player to play in the Champions League, beating the current record held by Nigeria's Celestine Babayaro.
