Arsenal returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 1-0 win against struggling Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday.

Iwobi was replaced by Danny Welbeck on 72 minutes

Mesut Ozil broke the deadlock on 23 minutes as he volleyed into the roof of the net following a poor headed clearance by a Newcastle defender.

It was Arsenal’s sixth straight home win against Newcastle who have now lost eight of their last nine league games (one draw).

The win moved Arsenal to fourth on 33 points, while Newcastle remain in the relegation zone as they are now 18th on 15 points in the league table.

At Stamford Bridge, Nigeria star Victor Moses was also in action for champions Chelsea who pipped Southampton 1-0.

Moses came off for Davide Zappacosta with eight minutes left in the game.

After being frustrated in the early part of the game, Marcos Alonso gave Chelsea the lead two minutes into first half added time after curling his effort from a free-kick around the Southampton wall into the bottom right-hand corner.

Chelsea maintain their third spot and are now on 38 points.

In other results, Huddersfield thrashed 10-man Watford 4-1 at Vicarage Road and Brighton and Hove Albion were held to a 0-0 home draw by Burnley.

The game between Stoke City and West Ham at Bet 365 was delayed due to power issues.
