The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has dissociated itself from the planned resumption of academic activities at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) on Monday Nov. 18.
A statement from the Chairman of ASUU-ESUT, Prof. Gab Agu, in Enugu on Sunday said the union's attention was drawn to the announcement by authorities that students would resume academic activities on Monday.
“While ASUU-ESUT mourns the demise of Prof. Festus Iyayi, a former President of ASUU, it awaits the directive of the NEC on the ongoing strike,” it said.
A condolence register has been opened for the late Iyayi at the ASUU secretariat at Agbani campus of ESUT.
