Former chief of army staff, Lt. Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, has dragged Dr. Stephen Davies, the Australian hostage negotiator, to court.
It will be remembered that Davies accused Ihejirika of sponsoring the Boko Haram insurgency in North-east Nigeria.
Chief Nnoruka Udechukwu, SAN, counsel to Ihejirika has demanded N100 billion as the aggravated damages for defamation.
The counsel, speaking on behalf of the retired general said, Davies' libelous accusation has affected him gravely: “He has suffered grievous wrong and he has been exposed to scandal, odium, ridicule, humiliation and his character, credit and reputation brought into disrepute, both in Nigeria and abroad.”
