Suspected members of the Islamist Boko Haram sect have launched an attack in a village near the north-eastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri, killing about 45 people.
The militants reportedly came into the village of #Barderi, near the University of #Maiduguri on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday night, telling people to gather to hear them preach, but then turned the guns on the crowd.
#BBC reported that when President Goodluck Jonathan ordered a military assault on Boko Haram more than a year ago, he admitted that some parts of Borno state were no longer under the control of the state.
