Following an order by the Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, Borno State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, in collaboration with Empower 54 have evacuated over 500 malnourished children rescued from Sambisa Forest by the Nigerian Army in Bama.
Empower 54 has the difficult task of identifying the patients to be moved, Borno SEMA is providing shelter, food and other items for their care while Doctors Without Borders (MSF) are providing medical care.
On Monday, over 1,000 extremely malnourished children were evacuated in 15 large school busses to a secure treatment location in Maiduguri provided by the Borno State government.
Yesterday, despite heavy rains, Empower 54 was in the rain for over 3hours selecting children to be evacuated and successfully moved over 500 people. Trucks of food were sent and distributed at the camp by the Governor who also went to see the malnourished children and women rescued from Boko Haram.
