Former governor and Brazilian presidential candidate Eduardo Campos, 49, died this morning as a small plane carrying him and others crashed in Santos, Agencia Brazil reports.
It is not clear whether there are no survivors.
Brazil's Vice President Michel Temer expressed his regret over the death of Mr Campos, who had been running third in the polls for October's election.
Campos had also served Brazil as a federal legislator from 1998 to 2003.
