Bristow Helicopter will be compensating the victims of the ill-fated helicopter, which lost control some few minutes to landing, crashing into the lagoon at Oworonsoki last Tuesday. Six out of the twelve people on board lost their lives.

Each of the victims will receive a compensation of $100,000 according to the standards of the International Civil Aviation Authority (ICAO), on compensation for crash victims. The compensation was raised from $10,000 to $100,000 a few years ago by the regulatory body according to the Warsaw Convention.

An initial payment of $30,000 is to be made shortly after the crash and then the remaining will be paid three months after the crash.

Meanwhile, the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) on Sunday, said it had retrieved the transcript (the conversation between the control tower and flight crew), which when downloaded, will be able to give the exact conversation and all other side talks that transpired between the crew and air traffic controllers.

AIB spokesperson, Tunji Oketunbi told BusinessDay that the Bureau which is still on the fact-finding stage had also retrieved documents on information on the crew, helicopter and the airline from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
