The governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State which produced Senator Iyiola Omisore has left the party polarised.

The primary election which was boycotted by one of the major contestants, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, has unsettled the party and stakeholders are now singing discordant tunes. Adeleke’s withdrawal from the race on the eve of the primary election was an anticlimax because analysts had predicted that the contest was going to be a hot race between the contestants. In fact, the presence of a former Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Defence, Chief Oluwole Oke, and a former Minister of Youth Development, Chief Olasunkanmi Akinlabi, in the race was seen as a factor that would make the primary go down to the wire.

Although Omisore won the governorship primary with a landslide, the disaffection which greeted the election has become a major source of concern for the party.
