More confusion seems to be trailing Thursday's security meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan and some state governors with the bone of contention being the obvious absence of APC governors.

The governors in attendance included those of Cross River, kogi, Kaduna, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Taraba, Gombe, Plateau, Jigawa, Deltan, Enugu, Anambra, Benue, Ondo, Abia, Akwa Ibom and Katsina.

Various statements have been made concerning the governors' absence; some say they weren't invited, others say they boycotted the meeting.

Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Interim National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC has issued a statement claiming that APC governors were told that had been postponed.

Part of the statement issued by the APC Chieftain read, "On Wednesday, the Presidency called the Chief Detail of the Kwara State Government to say that the meeting has been called off. On the basis of this information, which apparently got to other Governors under the aegis of the APC, our Governors did not attend.

"Now that the meeting has been held, it is incumbent on the Presidency to launch an investigation into the source of the call to the Kwara State Government and what the call was meant to achieve.

''Irrespective of the totally unfounded and absolutely irresponsible allegation that the APC is behind the escalating security situation, our party will not shy away from any serious effort to end the terrorist attacks in our country. Therefore, it is not true that our Governors shunned the meeting with the President", the APC said.

Also, briefing newsmen after the meeting that lasted for two hours, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio said only PDP governors were invited for today's meeting.

Asked why Ondo and Anambra governors who are not of the PDP attended the meeting, Akpabio said he personally invited them.

Abia State Governor Theodore Orji told journalists that it was the PDP governors that initiated today's meeting with the president, affirming that APC governors were not invited.

Meanwhile, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, is either in the dark about the meeting or simply gunning for a fight; the PDP Chieftain issued a statement blasting the APC for not attending the meeting.

Part of Metuh's statement read, "When we said that the All Progressive Congress (APC), as it is presently constituted aids and abets terror in Nigeria by omission and commission, some Nigerians doubted us. But what further proof can there be of the culpability of the APC than the decision of its governors to shun the National Security Council meeting called by the president to deliberate on ways to bring the sponsors of terror and their footmen to book?

"It is important to note that APC governors do not shun meetings where the Federal Government takes care of their financial interests. But as this meeting is meant to take care of the interests of Nigerians, they shunned it.

Reno Omokri, Presidential adviser on New media also took to Twitter, to fault APC governors for not attending the meeting.
