The House Committee on Diaspora has cautioned Nigerian students against applying to the Cyprus International University, Nicosia, North Cyprus, for studies, saying the institution is not safe.
It also stated that North Cyprus is dangerous for students, adding that the country is not recognised by Nigeria and other countries, except Turkey, which is occupying the Territory.
The Chairman of the Committee, Abike Dabiri-Erewa said this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja against the backdrop of the killing of a Nigerian student, Gabriel Soriwei, by a Cypriot and the nonchallant attitude of the CIU authorities to the incident.
