The House of Representatives has today passed a resolution to summon the governor of Kogi State ,Yahaya Bello, for failure to obey the resolution of the House.
The House had in March taken over the functions of the Kogi State Assembly following the leadership crisis that engulfed the state legislature after the impeachment of its speaker, Momoh Jimoh, by five members.
The House had consequently ordered the Inspector-General of Police Solomon Arase to close the state assembly, pending when the matter would be resolved.
However, the Imam's faction continued to carry out their legislative proceedings unhindered, a situation that angered members of the House.
Thus, adopting a motion by Rep Chukwuemeka Ujam (PDP, Enugu) today, the House said Bello must appear before it to explain why he allowed the state assembly to continue their sitting and even presenting the state budget to them.
Bello is to appear before an ad-hoc committee of the House set up on the matter chaired by House Leader Femi Gbajabiamila.
