The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Jimoh Ibrahim as the authentic candidate of the PDP for the upcoming governorship election in the state.
INEC’s decision is in apparent obedience to a ruling by a Federal High Court in Abuja which ordered that Mr. Ibrahim be used to replace Eyitayo Jegede.
The decision of the electoral commission also comes despite another court ruling on Thursday by an Akure High Court which ordered that Mr. Jegede still be retained as the candidate of the party.
Mr. Jegede emerged the candidate in a primary conducted by the Ahmed Makarfi faction of the PDP while Mr. Ibrahim won the primary by the Ali Sheriff faction of the party.
