Here's an excerpt from a Daily Trust report, describing plans by disgrunted APC and PDP bigwigs to form a new mega political party. Everthing's hush now though, the report says.

Excerpt:

Members of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) led by Tinubu, the nPDP like Atiku and some former PDP governors who revolted and joined are all aggrieved over the alleged “domineering influence” of members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), who were brought forth by President Buhari into the APC.

“The simple truth is that in all intent, members of the CPC have short-changed others in the scheme of things, especially in terms of ministerial and other appointments. Just do a quick rundown of those in corridors of power and you will see what I mean, they are all from the erstwhile CPC,” he said, adding: “So, some of us are really working to come together, including leaders and supporters of what I can call ‘banana political parties’ that do not have the ware withal to make any impact on their own.”

The highly-placed source added: “We want to coalesce into a big force, far from the contraption in the PDP and the marriage of convenience in the APC,” he added. He said the alleged “persecution” of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, who is a loyalist of Atiku, is already getting to the point of no return.

“Though both Atiku and Saraki are looking towards 2019, they are one bloc for now and Saraki is seriously courting the former vice president for guidance as to how to survive the turbulence. I want to tell you that the two camps recently held a meeting in Spain, and it’s all about a new party in the event those controlling the APC remain adamant.”
