The International Aviation College in Ilorin will graduate its first set of eight trained pilots on Thursday, Dec. 12.

The Acting Rector of the college, Capt. Nuhu Abdulkareem said this at a news conference.

The graduating pilots are part of the 12 trainees that were admitted to the college for 18 months training in 2012.

The rector said one of them is female while another student would be the youngest pilot produced in the country.

The new pilots completed their training in 15 months instead of the scheduled 18 months.

He said that eight pilots completed their training with full Commercial Pilot’s License, Instrument Rating and Multi-Engine Training.

The training was challenging to some, the rector said. One of the students converted to ground instruction training; another withdrew on health ground while two were withdrawn by the college due to poor performance.

The graduating pilots have been absorbed by the aviation sector, one by an international oil exploration company.
