Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday in Nairobi assured that his government would work closely with the UN to fight global terrorism.
Kenyatta said such close working relationship with the UN and other partners in the fight against international terror groups would ensure sustainable peace in the East African region.
“We have increased visible security and will remain vigilant,’’ the Kenyan president, who met visiting UN deputy secretary-general Jan Eliasson in Nairobi, said.
Kenyatta's remark comes after four terrorists stormed Westgate Mall in Nairobi on Sept. 21 and opened fire on the shoppers.
Already, the authorities are questioning eight key suspects in connection with the terrorist attack.
Kenyatta said his government would use all means at its disposal to defend citizens from both internal and external aggression.
