The Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP Kwara state chapter has dismissed speculations that the Kwara state local government election scheduled for Saturday has been postponed.
Alhaji Mas’ud Adebimpe, Kwara state PDP Publicity Secretary, told the press on Tuesday that the party had put in place effective strategies to achieve victory.
He said, "To put the record straight, the party has not cancelled the election as all arrangement as provided for by our party’s constitution and the Electoral Act have been concluded,’’ he said.
He also said the suit filed by the All Progressive Congress (APC) seeking restraint of the electoral body from conducting the polls on the fixed date had been scheduled for fresh hearing on November 7.
More so, it is specifically stated in the Electoral Act that no court can stop any election or any primary of any political party.
"The adjournment of the suit filed by the APC therefore does not in any way put a stop to the conduct of the election as scheduled".
"In the same vein, the national headquarters of our party has not only been informed, but has also endorsed both the primary and the candidates that would contest in the election".
"The public should therefore disregard in its entirety the misleading information,” he added.
