The fraud trial of Nigeria's Senate President resumed today, Wednesday 27th of April, at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT. Here are 7 major events that happened during the trial.
- CCT Chairman Umar Danladi set two new rules on the trial. (What are they? - click here to see)
- Saraki's usual horde of senatorial support dwindled. The senate president came to the court today armed with just two senators. (click here to see who they are)
- CCT Chairman orders Saraki's security detail out of the court (read more)
- Saraki's lawyer Raphael Oloyede (who'd caused a scene during the trial days ago) too centre stage. He was (promoted?) to be the lead counsel.
- He said CCT chairman Danladi should disqualify himself from handling the trial - these are his reasons.
- He thereafter filed a new motion to disqualify Umar Danladi to preside over his trial. (read more about that here)
- Following this, Danladi adjourned the case to the next day. This happened around 4pm, which is rather early. He'll rule on the motion tomorrow.
