According to Mr Yakubu Dati, the Authority’s General Manager, Corporate Communications in a telephone interview in Lagos, the attack only affected some areas around the vicinity of the airport.

“There was no bombing at the Maiduguri Airport, but it only happened around the airport vicinity.

“The airport has been closed for flights, and relevant security situation are on the ground to take full charge,” Dati said.

The Managing Director of Med-View Airlines, Alhaji Muneer Bankole also said that the crisis in Maiduguri did not affect his airline operations.

“We fly into Yola from Abuja and Lagos. Our flight is to Yola from Abuja and Lagos. We do not operate flights into Maiduguri Airport,” Bankole said.
