The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief John Oyegun, today told former head of state Muhammadu Buhari that the N27.5million charged by the party for its presidential form was aimed at separating the boys from the men.
Oyegun made the remark at the APC National secretariat in Abuja after Buhari purchased his forms and complained that the price was too high.
Speaking to Buhari, APC National chairman said, "in spite of his age, this is a man that surprises us every passing day. The N27.5 million is to separate the men from the boys.
"We don’t expect you to have N27.5 million under your bed, but we know there are Nigerians that will vouch and stand for you any day"
Oyegun congratulated Buhari for a successful declaration on Wednesday in Abuja, saying the outing was a clear indication of the quality of leadership that the party was offering the nation.
"We have two candidates who have come out boldly and who, given half a chance, will beat anyone,’’ he said.
Oyegun, who promised rancour-free primaries, however, hinted that there could be a possibility of a consensus candidate. He added that the decision would be that of the aspirants.
Oyegun said, "If there is a consensus among the aspirants, we as a party will welcome it.
"But if not, we will give you the cleanest and fairest primaries that will show that these are people with a difference. We must run rancour-free primaries for all the aspirants so that they can hug one another at the end.
"We must have that man that will make us proud as a nation and reclaim respect for Nigeria from the international community", the APC Chairman added.
