Rafiu Salau, the National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) on Monday while speaking with newsmen in Abuja advised the All Progressives Congress (APC) to reverse its directive to its federal legislators on executive bills and adopt legal option.
APC had issued a directive to its federal legislators to block executive proposals to the two chambers to make President Goodluck Jonathan intervene in the situation in Rivers.
However, Salau said APC should exploit legal means of expressing its grievances over the situation in Rivers or any part of the country rather than using its legislators against democratic process.
"Such directive may delay the democratic process of getting approvals of the National Assembly on critical issues, adding that it may bring hardship to innocent citizens.
"Every elected officer has the responsibility to ensure the well being of the people, action that will delay service delivery should be avoided.
"The implication of any attempt to block passage of bills like national budget will affect service delivery to the entire nation, we (AD) believe it is avoidable," Salau said.
He also advised political parties to invest in formulating policies that would benefit the country.
