Nine Nigerian citizens suspected of collaborating with the Boko Haram sect to perpetrate attacks have been arrested by the Nigerian army in the northeast.

This brings the total number of arrests in the past two days to 30 Army spokesman, Col. Sani Usman on Tuesday said in a statement on Tuesday.

Giving a breakdown, he said the suspects included two officers, two soldiers, two policemen and 26 civilians.

The acts of these ‘unpatriotic elements’ were ‘likely to jeopardise’ the collective efforts of clearing the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists, he said.

“Many more suspects would be arrested and prosecuted based on evidences against them and level of culpability,’’ he added.
