The amount charged for flights by airline operators in the country may soon change as the Federal Government and marketers of aviation fuel have commenced meetings aimed at reviewing the price of the product.
According to Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria's Executive Secretary, Mr. Obafemi Olawore, "everybody knows that fuel is the major component of the aviation industry, particularly in terms of cost. And how, when and where it is delivered is of great importance to the industry. So I’m happy you are here," PUNCH quoted him as saying.
“We will be willing to look at the issues together, review them and also come to an agreement in the best possible ways to make sure that the industry thrives. This is because the blood of the industry is fuel. We believe that if you keep the blood flowing, all parts of the value chain will function together optimally.
“This is just the beginning of the series of interactions that we are going to have towards ensuring that we enjoy the great benefits of your knowledge, expertise and processes, with which you carry out your operations, because they are also critical.” he said.
Coupled with Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka's ongoing reforms at the industry aimed at cutting tariffs and costs of operation of airlines, one could see a change in the near future.
