An indigenous oil company, Energia Nigeria limited, is planning to build a 30,000 barrels refinery in Delta state, in a bid to boost local fuel production and reduce imports, Independence reports.
The Managing Director and the Chief Executive Officer of the firm Mr. Felix Amiieye–Ofori who said this added that the company will first start with 5000 barrels modular refinery in Delta state before further expansion.
He said the company has already procured a parcel of land in Ndokwa area of Delta state, and carried out Environment Impact Assessment (EIA ) of the land where the refinery will be located.
‘’We have the capacity to shore up our production, we stopped the Capex because of the drop in oil prices, we are still drilling our wells ,assets and reserve will be increased to 15 ,000 barrels by next year.”
‘’We know that a lot of multinational oil firms will be divesting some of their assets at the onshore concessions, we are wholly Nigerian company, we are capable to acquire some of these assets when the owners are willing to divest. Our board members and contractors are Nigerians. We are one of the four Nigerian companies without a white man on our pay role. That does not mean we will not have a white man as technical partner when the need arises,‘’ he noted.
