The number of active GSM users in Nigeria has risen to 151 million as at August, Acting Executive Vice Chairman, of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta, stated on Wednesday.
"As at August this year, we recorded 151 million active lines in the country, with a teledensity of 107 percent internet penetration is up to 88 million as at today."
According to him, the commission is also working towards collaborating with the Customs Service, and the Standard Organixation of Nigeria (SON), to seek ways of stopping the importation counterfeit devices as it these devices contribute to poor quality of service.
The EVC, who was represented by the Deputy Ditector, Consumer Affairs, Mr. Femi Atoyebi, spoke at the 2015 Abuja International Trade Fair, in Abuja.
