Politics Ogun: Amosun Proposes N345.42Bn For 2018 Budget [BREAKDOWN]

The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has presented the 2018 State Budget proposal of N345.42 billion to the State House of Assembly, Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, on Tuesday, with the assurance that the budget would be implemented in furtherance of the rebuilding mission of his administration.

The budget, entitled: “Budget of Accelerated Development”, has N223.72bn earmarked for capital expenditure, representing 64.77 per cent; and N121.698bn is earmarked for recurrent expenditure, representing 35.23 per cent.

Speaking during the presentation, Amosun said the budget is 57 per cent higher than that of last year, adding that this year, the great emphasis laid on capital projects is due to the fact that the administration is building greater momentum into the end of its tenure.

He gave a breakdown of the proposed budget to be allocated among the five cardinal programmes of his administration, as follows:

1. Affordable Qualitative Education, N79.25bn (22.9 per cent);

2. Efficient Healthcare Delivery, N21.20bn (6.13 per cent);

3. Agricultural Production that will lead to Massive Industrialisation, N21.14bn (6.12 per cent).

4. Affordable Housing and Urban Renewal, N45.73bn (13.24 per cent),

5. Rural Infrastructure Development (21.31 per cent),

6. Employment Generation, N73.61bn

7. Others N125.93bn (30.25 per cent).

From the recurrent expenditure, the governor said personnel cost, comprising salaries and allowances, will gulp N13.50bn, while N39.829bn would be set aside for overhead costs.
