Politics PDP Assembly Primaries: 11 Candidates Return Unopposed in Katsina

Eleven candidates vieing for seats in the Katsina State House of Assembly on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, were on Saturday returned unopposed in the primaries conducted in the 11 local government areas of Katsina South senatorial zone.

The candidates got their endorsement through affirmation by delegates in the presence of INEC officials, security personnel and party representatives.

In the election conducted in Matazu LGA, Alhaji Yusuf Fele a former local government chairman on the platform of the PDP won through affirmation.

He defeated the incumbent, Alhaji Abdu Danshehu.

In Danja LGA, the former Caretaker Chairman of the council, Alhaji Tijjani Lawal, was elected as the party’s candidate in the state Assembly.

He defeated Alhaji Abdullahhi Dantama the incumbent assembly member.

Alhaji Ado Haladu was returned unopposed as the party’s candidate for Faskari LGA.

Alhaji Kabir Ya’u was also returned unopposed as the candidate for Malumfashi LGA while Alhaji Habibu Sueliman was returned unopposed as the candidate for Funtua LGA

Alhaji Yazid Abdullahi, the chairman, Funtua LGA expressed appreciation to party delegates and members for the peaceful conduct of the primaries.

He said the credibility of the candidates and party’s achievements were enough to ensure victory for the PDP.

He urged party’s loyalists to respect and cooperate with the leadership to ensure the success of the party in the 2015 general elections.

He, however, cautioned them against actions that could lead to disunity.

Some of the candidates who spoke to NAN expressed hope that they would emerge victorious in the polls.

They promised to execute programmes that would uplift living condition of the people if elected.
