Sen. Ahmad Zanna Khalifa (PDP) represents Borno central in the Nigerian senate. In this interview with Ruth Choji, the lawmaker argues that, if the president will drops his 2015 presidential ambition, he would have done a great service to Nigeria. Besides, he says the ruling party, PDP to which he belongs, is going down and down.
What is your take on the proposed National Conference?
I don’t think something will come out of this conference because the intention is not purely on national issues, it is political. So I am expecting nothing to come out of it. What is expected is justice and fairness which is lacking in this country, not constitutional conference, not this, not that. If the leadership has the will to do things rightly and fairly, I think nobody will call for a conference.
