The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has given President Goodluck Jonathan the power to pick his running mate.
According to the party, President Jonathan will determine whether or not, Vice President Namadi Sambo will continue with him after 2015.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja yesterday, Oliseh Metuh, PDP National publicity secretary urged Nigerians to be patient and allow President Jonathan officially declare for re-election before speculating on who his running mate may be.
"I believe a lot of people are trying to speculate on this issue. Why don’t we wait till when Mr. President declares for such issues to be highlighted. But I must inform you that PDP has mentioned that it is a winning team. The president has done very well and it is a winning team. I believe that there is no need to magnify or attempt to import any differences between the president and his vice president.
"They have worked so well. The vice president has continued to be the second most loyal vice in the history of this country besides President Jonathan when he was vice president. So I believe he enjoys the confidence of Jonathan; and in the 2015 election, if Jonathan accepts to run, then we will be able to take it to the next level.
Metuh also informed newsmen that despite the party's endorsement of President Jonathan as sole Presidential candidate, the party will still hold its presidential primaries on December 6. He however added that no responsible member of the party is expected to seek the presidential ticket after the PDP NEC had adopted President Jonathan.
