Nigeria's former military Head of State, General Abdusalami Abubakar (retd.) took the Petroleum Minister, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke to a closed-door meeting with the president, Goodluck Jonathan.

PUNCH reports that she (Alison) arrived the presidential villa in Abuja three minutes after Abubakar had entered the president's office.

It will be recalled that a photo of her visiting Abubakar in Minna led to the internet speculating that she was trying to get him to broker a peace deal between her and president-elect Maj.-Gen Muhammadu Buhari.

Abubakar stayed in for 30 minutes, then left, leaving Alison-Madueke with the president.

When asked the reason for the meeting, Abubakar told the PUNCH “as the chairman of the peace committee, there is always interaction between the incoming president and President Jonathan, in order to ensure that the peace we have been able to get is sustained.

“So naturally, I am here to touch base with him and also to give him a report of what the committee has been doing,” he said.

It doesn't have to be carrying arms and weapons to defend our country and its inhabitats before we think we're keeping peace, peace keeping never ends. . Afterall the pen is mightier than the sword.
Is time the older generation set a path for us to follow, they should ensure a blueprint that will transcend into a workable society. I admire every move so far.
