The Plateau State Police Commanded has paraded 31 suspects (inculding a man who sold his wife for N800,000 to ritualists.)

The 31-odd crowd included a motley mix of suspected car snatchers, vehicle thieves, armoed robbers and cattle rustlers.

Also arrested were suspects of culpable homicide, attempted culpable homicide and criminal conspiracy.

From The Sun newspaper:

State Police commissioner, Nasiru Oki who paraded revealed that one Maimako Shephang of Kwalla village in Shendam local government area of the state had in August this year, at about 3.00pm lured his wife who was identified as Agnes to the bush and on getting there, handed over her to two masked men.

After her husband had left, the men asked her if she was a spinster or not. The lady informed them that she was married and that it was her husband that handed her to them. She was then told to run away from the place because the spiritual sacrifice they intended to carry out requires a virgin.

The police later arrested her husband and an intermediary between him and the ritual killers. Upon interrogation the man confessed having received N400, 000 and was awaiting the balance.
