Chief Nyesom Wike, Minister of State for Education, claims that six serving commissioners under the Rotimi Amaechi administration in Rivers State will resign their positions in December and defect from the All Progressives Congress, APC to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); THIS DAY reported.

Wike made the announcement at Ozuoba, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State during the official launch of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Economic Empowerment and Conditional Cash Transfer Programmes in the state by the wife of the president, Mrs. Patience Goodluck Jonathan.

He said, "By December, the commissioners would have made enough money to sustain themselves and their families before resigning their appointments from the state executive council".

Addressing the first lady, Wike said, "Your Excellency, I want you to remember today’s date, August 6. I declare here today that PDP will win Obio/Akpor and Rivers State. You will call me to say that I said so. You can tell your security or protocol to remind you that I (Wike) said it here, in Akpor Grammar School, Ozuoba, Obio/Apkor Local that PDP will win the governorship election and retain Rivers State.

"Let me also tell you that by December, six commissioners will resign and join us in PDP. The arrangement we had was that they should remain there (state executive council) and make enough money to take care of themselves and their families.

"If I mention their names now, they will be sacked. So, we want them to remain there and make enough money and join us then. I will not mention names, but when the time comes you will know them".
