Trial for the “continued siege” on the residence of Sambo Dasuki. former national security adviser (NSA) suffered setback as Abubakar Malami, Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and minister of justice, on Monday failed to appear before Ademola Adeniyi of the federal high court, Abuja, to explain the reason behind the siege after court injuction restraining federal government.

Last Friday, Ademola ‎had implored the Department of State Services (DSS), which had laid siege on Dasuki’s residence for about two weeks, to obey the court’s order granting the former NSA leave to travel abroad for medical treatment.

The judge had berated the DSS for flouting‎ his orders, and he summoned the AGF to appear before him. But‎ appearing for the prosecution on Monday, Taiwo Abidogun, solicitor-general of the federation, explained that the AGF could not honour the court’s invitation because he was yet to settle in at the ministry of justice. He stated that the AGF would assume duty on Wednesday,‎ and asked the court to adjourn the case to give the AGF time to prepare and present himself before the court. Joseph Daodu, Dasuki’s counsel, consented‎ to the prayer for adjournment, after which the court adjourned the case to November 23.
