Sports Van Persie backs David Moyes to change things at Man Utd

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has backed manager David Moyes to turn the club's fortune around.

Moyes has come under intense scrutiny after succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson as coach of United, and has not really had a smooth run settling in the demands of the job.

The Dutch striker who has been sidelined for over a month,is quite confident that Moyes will come good in no distant time.

"Moyes needs time, he's new," said Van Persie. "The manager is our leading man and he will change things around."

United currently lies in seventh position and eleven points behind leaders Arsenal on the Premier League table, but he is confident they will improve "sooner rather than later".

"We lost too many points this year, but we are doing everything we can to change that," he added.

The 30-year old further revealed that Moyes was surprised when the United players refused to get too carried away last year after the Community shield triumph over Wigan.

"We are used to winning," said Van Persie. "If you win, it's a normal day at the office. After the Community Shield win, none of the players really celebrated, or played music, as it was the way things were."
