The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammed Buhari (Rtd), on Thursday in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa state; hometown of President Goodluck Jonathan pledged to revamp the agricultural and power sectors, if elected.
Buhari made the pledge at a campaign rally.
He was accompanied by Chief John Oyegun, the National Chairman of APC; Chief Timiprie Sylva, a former Governor of Bayelsa; Gov. Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers and other chieftains of APC.
Buhari noted that Bayelsa was blessed with suitable climate and fertile land for large scale agriculture which could be harnessed to drive economic development.
He said that power was critical to unlock the potential of Nigerian entrepreneurs and would be a cardinal part of his economic programme.
Buhari also promised to embark on skills acquisition and empowerment schemes for unemployed youths in the state.
On corruption, the former Head of State said that his administration would compel anyone caught stealing public fund to return it. He urged registered voters in the state to collect their permanent voter cards before the February 14 general elections.
