The Jigawa Commissioner for Land and Housing, Alhaji Muhammed Barde said the state government retrieved the land given to Federal Government because it was allegedly not used for the agreed purpose.
Barde said this while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Dutse.

NAN recalls that the state government on Wednesday commenced the demolition of houses belonging to the staffers of the Federal Ministry of Works on the land in contention.

According to the commissioner, the land was acquired for the Federal Ministry of Works in Dutse for a specific purpose 17 years ago.

He explained that the land was revoked because the Federal Government allegedly failed to use it for what it was given for.

"The Federal Government was given the land for the past 17 years and it did not use it for the purpose we agreed upon.

"We have revoked the title, it is not accruable, and it is just an institutional title," he said.

According to him, the state government has concluded plan to use the property as an amusement park that would be useful to the members of the public.

The commissioner stated that the establishment of the park would be captured in the 2014 budget.
