Metro 'Why Nigerians Should Give Up On TStv'

Here's the comment of maeshal, a member of the online forum Nairaland puncturing holes in the business model of TStv, the firm widely believed to put DStv out of business.

"Let me just chip in, in my whole life i have never seen a company that launch and begin test transmission (i stand to be corrected ). The right way is you test your product, launch and sell to the consumers.

"This is not about sentiment and the patriotic card, it is about credibility. I remember vividly the chat i had with their customer care which she claim that commercial sales will begin November 1st. How can a company launch a product and two months no single consumer can buy the product sigh. On the issue of beIN sport, i laugh when people claim tstvcan't disclose their agreement. When two companies sign non disclosure agreement, both companies release a press statement that an agreement has been signed but details of the agreement won't be published, that is how non disclosure agreement works but there has been no press release from the beIN group till now.

"Now let me give example of non disclosure agreement, when supersport got rights to air premier league games, multichoice released a statement and premeir league released a statement same day on their website but details of the agreement was not disclosed. Lastly tstv claim NBC officials went with them to Qatar to sign the agreement, why is it that till today no NBC official has collaborated that statement.

"By the way nobody should tag me dstv agent or kwese agent abi startimes agent, people should be able to ask questions and get genuine answers but this is Nigeria anything goes.

Is he saying the truth? Do you agree with him?

Well, Mr. Opinion has right to his view.

Just as my view on TSTV remains intact. Why can't we just allow the company to focus and work on their brand and products. A company is coming in at a time where difficulties aboard on businesses and the Forex market isn't smiling.

It takes a grace for TSTV to come on board, and the grace will push them abound.

As for Bein, Mr. Opinion writer should have contacted Bein and convince us with fact rather than rhetorics.

I wish all of us well.

Don't you think it's better not to launch at all than to launch and not be active in any capacity whatsoever?

It is not about grace bro. It is about doing the right thing. If you don't have the necessary structures on ground, grace can't work for you. They rode on sentiments, and sentiments cannot grow a business.

The service is available on pre-mode and they need to check systems very well before coming out in full force. Don't forget our system and other factors.

If they rush to the market, they will rush back...because the system is looking for loopholes to milk the new PayTV dry.

The structure is there bro.., Functional website, Very massive and impressive database of accredited dealers and what they are ready to offer. Those are readily available on their website.

The government has buy into their idea with tax holiday. What else, do you want to know about their Structure?

@Lequte @RemmyAlex very valid points but can i ask, is there a reason why you are both emotionally attached to tstv? while @Lequte is always quick to pint out errors, @RemmyAlex is pro tstv. @Samguine has just been a hater of tstv from day 1, also if they didnt have the neccesary infrastructure, will the govt give them a 3 year tax exemption?

@Lequte is just playing the DTSV way, @Samquine is a potato :) Then you, @ese, you are a statesman :)

So what is the problem?

I point out errors because they are there. We need to ask questions when things don't look logical or alright.

As Nigerians we've been fed with hope for decades and we're still hungry. I'm not saying TStv is a fraud but considering the way things are they don't look like a serious entity.

You talk about tax reliefs. Have you seen any document to this effect? Also, if they have the necessary infrastructure, shouldn't they be up and running at the moment? Let's be realistic ma'am.

They didn't need to rush their launch either. Launch when you're ready. Don't keep dribbling the populace like APC.

They said the service would be available by October. Then they postponed it to November. Then they said "test transmission" blablabla.

December is almost here. I'm sure they'll come up with another excuse and say the D-day is January 2018.

Change!
