Nigeria's Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Olusegun Aganga, on Tuesday said the time had come for the nation to embrace industrialisation and reduce the emphasis on oil, Punch reports.
According to him, the global drop in oil prices is a wake-up call for the diversification of the nation’s economy.
He said the current administration, in recognition of the fact that no nation had been able to move from poor to rich through the export of raw materials, had put in place 62 reform programmes aimed at industrialising the economy.
The minister described the reforms, which cut across key sectors of the economy, as game changers that would reposition the nation into one of the most industrialised economies in the nearest future.
