Politics Akande,Atiku Fight Over APC Board of Trustees Chairmanship

Former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC Chief Bisi Akande and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar are currently in a fierce battle over who'll emerge Chairman of the party's board of trustee.



PUNCH reports that the tussle was part of moves by the power blocs in the APC to influence decisions in the party by taking control of its various organs. The warring power blocs are Atiku faction and National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu faction.

The Tinubu faction is said to be rooting for Akande as BOT Chairman.

Competition for positions in political parties is very healthy and normal. After all, politics is still about personal, group and national interests. Atiku certainly has better political sagacity to function as the party’s BOT chairman than Chief Akande. Akande was a great chairman, but if APC want to effectively match the fierce opposition ‘jabs’ expected from PDP, Atiku is the answer.
